Climate
Weather during July can be pleasant with an average temperature of 19°C although an umbrella is always a sensible precaution as the weather in Scotland can be unpredictable.
Electricity
The voltage in the United Kingdom is 220-240V. An adapter or converter will be necessary for overseas appliances in Britain.
Insurance
The registration fees do not include the insurance of participants against personal accident, sickness, cancellation by any party, theft, loss or damage to personal possessions. Participants are advised to take out adequate personal insurance to cover travel, accommodation, cancellation and personal effects.
Language
The language of the conference is English. There will be no simultaneous interpretation provided.
Letters of Invitation
Delegates requiring a letter of invitation to attend the Conference should click here. You will then be asked to complete a form regarding your personal details and an invitation letter will then be generated and emailed to the delegate.
Please note that a letter of invitation will be provided to assist delegates in obtaining a visa or permission to attend the Conference and should not be considered as an official invitation covering fees and other expenses
Passports & Visas
A valid passport is required for entry into the United Kingdom. Please contact the British Consulate nearest to you for specific details and visa requirements. Please note that it can sometimes take up to 12 weeks for visas to be issued so you should allow enough time when applying for your visa.
Transportation
Glasgow is easily reached from all parts of the UK with excellent road links and frequent trains. Scotland’s major airport is just 15 minutes drive from the City Centre with frequent domestic services to London and other UK destinations. For those travelling from further afield there are direct, scheduled flights from over 30 international destinations in Europe, North America and beyond.
Public Transport - public transport is available to and from the SECC: Scotrail - from Glasgow Central Station (low level), there is a regular train service to the “Exhibition Centre” station, which is linked to the SECC by covered walkway. The train departs approximately every 9 minutes but you should check out this link for further information - http://www.scotrail.co.uk/timetables-routes/1771/205. You should refer to the Glasgow - Milngavie and the Helensburgh Central - Glasgow part of the timetable for the relevant train times. The train service to Edinburgh departs from Glasgow Queen Street station.
Taxis - taxis are available for hire outside the SECC and the adjacent Crowne Plaza Hotel.
